One needn't have a PhD in Economics to realize much of our national economic crisis lies at the feet of Congress. Current lending policies have shown that there is too little regulation of financial institutions, who loan, out of greed, to those who cannot afford to borrow, at least above certain amounts. Unfortunately, recent history has shown that many of our financial institutions are incapable of policing themselves, thus indicating the need for more regulation and enforcement. And, Congress just keeps spending - both parties. The quest to be re-elected seems to be more important than the overall and long-term needs of the Country. Is it any wonder people become cynical of our political system? In order to "keep up the momentum" of the economic cycle, we encourage people to spend, spend, spend. And, who spends, but those whom we should be encouraging to save and invest. Look at the credit card, as well as the housing debt. This is not what this County is all about, and it cannot possible continue indefinitely. Politicians are elected by the trust of the...[trimmed for length]
